Frequently Asked Questions

Can’t find what you’re looking for? We’ve shared some of our most frequently asked questions to help you out!

General Questions

Typically yes. An agreement for 24 or 36 months will be put in place at the start of your lease or free-on-loan term. This commitment allows Black Stag to secure a modern, state of the art coffee machine for your workplace. Your dedicated Account Manager will visit you regularly to ensure that it is operating smoothly and you’ll receive ongoing servicing. Our commitment to customer service is unparalleled – you won’t be disappointed.
To find the best coffee machine for your workplace, we look at the number of staff to find the machines that can produce the volume of cups you need per day. If the machine is too small, staff can end up waiting too long for drinks or emptying the grounds container too frequently. We also take into account who will be using the machine – staff, customers or management? We will then typically provide you with 1-3 recommendations to review.
We specialise in fully automatic bean-to-cup machines that deliver café-style coffee in seconds. Suitable for workplaces, showrooms, schools, and hospitality settings. We offer three main setup types:
  • Fresh Bean + Fresh Milk Machines
  • Fresh Bean + Granulated or Powdered Milk Machines
  • Hybrid Machines (e.g. fresh bean coffee, but with chocolate or chai powder options)
We support all models with installation, training, servicing, and consumables — and you can buy, lease, or get a free-on-loan setup (if you meet the criteria).
An automatic bean-to-cup coffee machine grinds whole beans on demand, tamps the coffee, brews it, and then froths milk (if needed). Usually all at the touch of a button. Key features:
  • Built-in grinder (often ceramic or stainless steel)
  • Integrated milk frother
  • Touchscreen menus for lattes, flat whites, cappuccinos, and more
  • Cleaning cycles to simplify maintenance
  • Programmable drink settings for consistency and speed
These machines offer barista-quality results without needing a trained barista — perfect for busy workplaces or self-service setups.
To keep your coffee machine running smoothly and hygienically, it requires a daily rinse, weekly clean, and monthly descaling — especially important for fresh milk systems. These steps prevent build-up, protect internal parts, and maintain drink quality. Black Stag offers a valet servicing option, where we handle all cleaning and maintenance for you, ensuring your machine stays in top condition without adding work for your team.

Fresh Milk Fridges

For offices of up to 100 people, the Slimline fridge is perfectly fine. It fits two 2L milk bottles. The larger fridge is great if you would like to see both bottles side by side. For JURA machines we recommend the Cool Control 2.5L for most offices, unless there’s less than 30 people and then the Cool Control 1L works fine.
Choose Fresh Milk If:
  • You want a premium café-style experience with rich, creamy texture.
  • You have a fridge or milk cooler to keep milk fresh and safe.
  • Your staff or clients expect barista-quality lattes, flat whites, and cappuccinos.
  • You have someone who can do a daily rinse and weekly clean of the milk line.
  • Ideal for: Offices with 20+ staff, high coffee consumption, and a focus on quality and experience.
Choose Powdered (Granulated) Milk If:
  • You want less maintenance and longer shelf life.
  • Your machine is in a self-serve or unsupervised space.
  • You prefer a lower-cost, no-fridge-required solution.
  • You’re happy with basic milk-based drinks (more like a vending-style texture).
  • Ideal for: Warehouses, factories, remote locations, or offices under 20 staff where convenience is key.
If you have a team of 20+ people, it’s worth offering a secondary milk option, especially if you know some staff are dairy-free. Many businesses keep their default milk in the fridge line, and use a separate milk frother or glass container for alternatives like oat milk, allowing for manual selection without cross-contamination.
The Cool Control fridges are purpose-built for JURA coffee machines. They have a chilled stainless container inside which you pour your milk into.
  • Maintains milk at the ideal temperature (4°C) for perfect frothing and hygiene
  • Connects directly to the JURA milk system via a silicone hose
  • Comes in sizes like 0.6L, 1L, and 2.5L, depending on office size
Our other milk fridges also connect with a silicone hose however you place this inside the milk bottle which sits inside the fridge. You can usually fit 2 x milk bottles in a milk fridge. Some milk fridges come with a cup warmer on top.

Consumables

Oat milk (barista edition) is the most consistent across machines. It steams well, froths without splitting, and has a neutral flavour. Soy milk also performs well but can curdle at high temps. Almond and coconut milks tend to be less stable, though some barista blends perform better than others.
Choose Fresh Milk If:
  • You want a premium café-style experience with rich, creamy texture.
  • You have a fridge or milk cooler to keep milk fresh and safe.
  • Your staff or clients expect barista-quality lattes, flat whites, and cappuccinos.

Chai Tea (also called Masala Chai)
  • A traditional Indian spiced tea made by simmering black tea, spices (like cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves), water, and often a small amount of milk and sugar.
  • Has a stronger tea flavour and is more like a spiced milk tea.
  • In workplaces or cafés, chai tea is often made using liquid concentrates or powder mixed with water.
Chai Latte
  • A Western café version of chai tea made with steamed milk and chai concentrate or powder.
  • It’s much milkier and creamier, served like a latte.
  • Usually topped with light foam and sometimes dusted with cinnamon.
  • In automatic coffee machines, it’s usually made using chai powder mixed with hot milk or water.
Black Stag recommends Arkadia Chai Tea powdered beverage for that authentic spicy chai flavour.
Prolait or Regulait milk are freeze dried skim milk powders from Italy and France. They previously have been acknowledged as the standard for use in automatic coffee machines and vending machines. The taste can take a little getting used to. New Zealand milk powder typically uses NZ milk, light blue or skim. It’s the best taste when compared to fresh milk. Black Stag’s NZ milk powder doesn’t clog. Some milk powders that use glucose syrup or whiteners will clog more easily in the machines.
